As a candidate for the Owatonna Public Schools Board, my priority is ensuring every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
I believe every child should be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. Our schools should be welcoming places where students feel safe, valued, and able to focus on learning.
I support keeping our classrooms focused on academic excellence, including reading, writing, math, science, career readiness, and civics. Students should learn our nation's history honestly and completely, including both its successes and its challenges, while being encouraged to think critically and draw their own conclusions.
I believe parents are essential partners in education and deserve transparency about curriculum and school policies. I also believe decisions should be made locally, with input from our families, teachers, and community.
When it comes to topics like DEI and CRT, my focus is simple: every student deserves equal opportunity, and no student should be favored or judged because of race, ethnicity, or any other characteristic. Our schools should bring students together, not divide them.
As your school board member, I will work to keep the focus on academic achievement, fiscal responsibility, supporting our outstanding teachers, strengthening partnerships with local businesses and organizations, and preparing every student for success after graduation.
